Pet's info: Dog | Maltipoo | Male | neutered | 3 years and 7 months old | 14 lbs
What could possibly be the cause of persistent pain when a dog is diagnosed with FCE? It's been several days since my dog was admitted to the hospital, but he's still in a lot of pain. Today the vet decided to give him corticosteroids but just now she called me saying that my dog was not getting better and suspected that the inflammation in the blood vessel of his spinal cord was getting worse. Could have hemorrhage or other issues likely happened? Is this fatal? Please help & thank u very much!

Typically FCE is not painful, however myelomalacia can develop secondary to spinal cord injury and this might be painful. If Tweety didn’t have an MRI there are also other diseases that could present similar to an FCE - hemorrhage in the spinal cord could certainly occur. The prognosis depends on what is causing the progression of disease and how severe the neurologic symptoms are. Myelomalacia can be fatal if this is what is occurring. I would recommend asking your veterinarian these questions since they know the most about Tweety’s case.
