Is licorice root safe for my dog's swollen legs after prednisone?

My dog currently takes Hollistic remedies ( calc c and homotox mixed with things such as ubich, apis, etc. due to autoimmune disease which caused swelling of hind legs. He has been off of prednisone for 2 months and suddenly his hind legs became swollen over night. Is it safe to give him licorice root as an alternative to prednisone? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 3 years and 5 months old | 40 lbs

Licorice root will not harm your dog but it may not prove as effective as the prednisone and/or may not be as effective as it was last time. I think it is safe to try this remedy at home but if you aren’t noticing drastic improvement within 24-48 hours you may want to consider having him rechecked by your veterinarian. I hope this helps.
