My dog ate a small stone. Will it pass, and what signs should I watch for?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 30 days old | 10 lbs

Dog ate a small stone. Still pooping well. Seemingly no appetite loss. Will it pass? Was about the same size as the stone in the picture below. Am I overreacting? (I probably am, I only got her on Tuesday, just wanted to be sure)

It will likely pass. The symptoms of an issue to look out for including vomiting/especially within an hour of eating, straining to defecate, not popping. If you are willing to sift through each bowel movement until you find the small stone, that will provide additional peace of mind. Otherwise screening abdominal x-rays at your vet can determine whether the stone is stuck somewhere and are recommended especially if vomiting/in appearance or straining to defecate are noted. Good luck!
