Dog can't breathe due to pollen. Are there pet inhalers or meds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | spayed | 11 years and 3 months old | 15 lbs

Significant respiratory distress with the high pollen count. At this point Zyrtec 1/2 tab 2x a day of little benefit(wakens every 5 to 15 min in respiratory distress). Are there pet inhalers or other meds????

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Abby. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian. There are prescription medications to help her breathe easier. Steroids and bronchodilators are options. There are inhalers available, but I have only prescribed them for cats. Her veterinarian will examine her and ensure that her symptoms are related to allergies and not a respiratory tract infection or heart disease. I hope this information helps!
