My dog isn't eating normally. What's wrong and what should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 2 years and 7 months old | 85 lbs

So my dog hasn’t been eating normally lately. He has been eating very little and usually he eats a lot of food. He is a Great Dane/Pit Bull mix. He is a big dog, 85 lbs, and has a sort of thick but short coat. A few reasons I’ve considered is he is too hot since the weather has changed, he is depressed since I haven’t been able to spend fun time with him this week because I had a pack week, or he is sick. Please help me figure out what to do so I can make sure he is ok.

There could be a couple of reasons why Rosco isn't eating. It could be he has a dental problem, systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury causing the lack of appetite. I think having him seen by a vet in the morning for a health check is the best idea. Best of luck.
