My dog was neutered. Why is he peeing a lot and is his wound swollen?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Male | neutered | 6 months and 2 days old | 9 lbs

Hi my pup was castrated yesterday and he's urinating everywhere and I'm not sure if he knows he's doing it, every minute or two he needs a wee and sometimes nothing comes out, also I'm not sure but his wound looks swollen and red I have a picture of it but I'm not sure if it's something to be worried about.

Eric's incision does look red with some bruising around his scrotum but in this picture it looks like it is intact with no obvious evidence of any problems. The constant urination is odd - if he had IV fluids with his procedure this could be the cause. 24 hours seems like a little long to still be urinating from fluids so you also might want to check in with your vet to see if they would recommend an exam.
