My dogs have a dry cough and gag. Is it kennel cough? When to see vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 7 years and 5 months old | 15 lbs

I have two dogs in my house. My dog Lucy and my dads dog Coco. Coco started coughing three days ago but has been getting better day by day. We thought she had something in her throat. It's a dry cough with a gag/yack at the end with no vomitting. Well my dog Lucy is now coughing the same way. Is it kennel cough? Or just a simple cold? Neither of these dogs are around ANY other dogs and have not recently been to the vet or groomers. Should I take them to the vet immediately?

It could be Coco had a respiratory infection that she has passed onto Lucy. As long as both dogs are eating, drinking water, are not lethargic, and aren't having problems breathing, you can wait until the morning to have them seen by a vet. I hope this helps.
