My corn snake isn't eating. Is it normal or should I be worried?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My corn snake (unsure of age, around 1 or 2) hasn't been eating for the past 3 weeks. I soaked her tonight and she defecated. She's not dehydrated, I see her drink. Her cage temp is a steady 70 cool end, 85 warm end. I tried braining a mouse for her, I have only had her for a few months and don't know too much about her. She is active and loves to be on my neck, but I don't know if I should worry. Some snakes refuse food when the weather changes and it's just become Spring, but I'm worried.

Thanks for reaching out about Ivory and including a photo. You are correct that snakes can be finicky eaters during weather changes. If you feed mice, try offering rat pups: to snakes they smell and taste differently. If that doesn't work, a veterinary visit is recommended as intestinal parasites or infections are common. Good luck.
