My cat has a circular blotch in its eye. Is it blood or serious?

Hello. If the red mass is on the outside of her eye-ball (like something stuck on the outside of a marble) then she likely would not have complications with her vision. What you are describing could be many things, including the third eye-lid, or conjunctivitis (swelling of the thin skin that covers the eye), or a mass of some sort. I would have it checked by a vet. This can occur from anything like a simple trauma to the eye, to cancer, so treatment really depends on the cause. If there is any chance there was some trauma to the eye ( being hit with a ball could do this ), then treatment is nothing & the blood will reabsorb over time. If this is due to an infection or something more serious, then it may need to be treated. I am not sure why your veterinarians are unhelpful, perhaps you need to find someone else. THis indicates that there was a puncture or laceration either on the eye cornea itself or on the eyelid. You should take Bella to your local vet right away to have the eye thoroughly examined and treated. Poor Bella, she must have either ran into something or had the eye scratched by another pet or sharp surface.

I can’t say for sure but it looks like there may just be some fur in his eye. Try to close his eyelid and see if you can get it to move around. If not then I worry it is something on or inside his cornea like an ulcer and I would have your vet take a look at him. ypur vet will be able to flush his out if needed and start him on the proper antibiotics. I would have Akimba checked by your vet especially if the spot is new. It could be a melanoma (cancer) or a sequestrum. I'm worried about it because the borders of the spot are irregular and not smooth. It is hard for me to tell based on the photo if the spot is on the cornea or on the iris. Your vet will need to check the eye with an ophthalmoscope to get a better look. I don't think it's a dire emergency but I would try to get him in for an exam soon. I hope this helps. Best wishes!

It looks like Memo could have changes to the iris due to anterior uveitis or inflammation in the eye. This can cause the pupil to become smaller and the iris to change colors. It’s also possible that Memo has a growth on this eye. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian so they can examine Memo’s eye in person. They may want to check his eye pressure.
