Gravid leopard gecko not eating: Is it normal during breeding season?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Gecko | Female | unspayed

My gravid leopard gecko, Jasper, has been gradually eating less and less over the past week or so and I was wondering if it was something to worry more about or if it was due to her being gravid and the fact that it's breeding season. She did fast for a couple of weeks last year around this time but I don't remeber her tail ever getting this small. Her diet has been consistent (vitamins and all) ever since I bought her and so has her husbandry. She's also housed by herself.

Double check the temperature. Low temps can affect appetite in reptiles. If temps are within range, it is likely her appetite is being affected by her condition. This can happen and is usually no case for concern. Once she lays her clutch, you should see her appetite pick up.
