Why is my dog's stomach making loud gurgling noises? Is he sick?

my dogs stomach is making gargling noises and is extremely loud.

Is your dog acting sick or nauseated in any way? Like refusing to eat, drooling excessively or trying to eat grass? If not, then I would not be too concerned. It is normal for the gut to make sounds while digesting the food. If however your dog is acting ill then you may want to post another question with specifics so we can further help you out.     Hello, puppies may have normal digestion noises after eating or after drinking water. As long as he is not vomiting, having a decreased appetite, or having any diarrhea then these noises can be monitored. GI noises in puppies may also be associated with parasites or viral infections. These noises should decrease in intensity as Bruce gets older. Hope this helps and best of luck.

If Blue is not vomiting or having diarrhea, is eating normally, has a normal energy and no abdominal pain I wouldn't be concerned about the noises. You could try adding a probiotic (available at most pet stores and online) to his food to see if this makes a difference and seek veterinary care if he does start vomiting/diarrhea/lethargy/pain.

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. Sometimes, especially if there is more gas inside Darma's gastrointestinal tract, you can hear more gut sounds. This is similar to our stomach "growling". As long as she is not experiencing signs of vomiting or diarrhea, and she is acting herself and eating well, I would not be concerned! Hello, thank you for your question about Walter. Based on the symptoms that you are describing I suspect that Walter is experiencing some mild stomach upset or indigestion. Since he is otherwise acting normal I would recommend continuing to monitor him for the next 24 hours. If at any time he develops any vomiting, diarrhea, or lack or appetite I would recommend having him evaluated by your veterinarian. Hope this helps!

My dogs stomach keeps making gargling noises every other day, rubs the sides of his butt on the couch, and won't eat all day when his stomach acts up.
Garling noises are called borborygmi and this can be normal stomach noises, but when heard along with lack of appetite this suggests gastritis (inflamed stomach). Gastritis can be cause by many things including dietary indiscretion (eating something he shouldn't have), FB ingestion, and many organ malfunctions. The rubbing of the side of his butt on things is also a sign that his anal glands (two sacs located on the inside of his rectum at the 4 o'clock and 10 o'clock position) are possibly full and irritating him. Anal glands are suspected to be caused by allergies and also often get full when pets go through bouts of diarrhea, because normally they are expressed when hard feces push past them. Because of the multiple factors that are affecting your pet, and the possible need for him to get his anal glands manually expressed to reduce discomfort, I am recommending taking him into your vet for a good exam. If it you only noticed it once, and she's otherwise totally normal, I wouldn't worry about it. If you're noticing a pattern of frequent loud stomach sounds, I would recommend discussing that with your vet to see if they would recommend any medical work up (it will depend on her overall health) or if you can try different dog foods -- perhaps probiotics or a bland prescription diet.

Not to worry! The gurgling sounds from Ellie's stomach and intestines simply indicate that everything is working as expected, as food and gas travel along the gastrointestinal tract. This is only a concern when the gurgling becomes constant and is coupled by changes in her appetite, vomiting, or diarrhea.

Hello. If Bromley is sleeping well, then it is probably not an emergency. If he were to start breathing very heavily, retching, pacing, drooling or acting at all painful, then you do need to have him looked at. But upset stomachs do occur in dogs. He may vomit, or have a day or two of diarrhea, but as long as he is eating, drinking & seems fairly normal & active, these things are pretty much self-limiting. If Bromley, however, seems at all unwell, or you are really concerned, it never hurts to have things checked out as soon as possible. I have a dog that seems to be having stomach issues. Her stomach is gurgly, bad gas, licking the air, and gulping. She eats grass, I assume to help her throw up, however her stomach issues got worse and I ended up pulling a 2 foot long glob of tangle
It sounds like she is naseous so she really should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. She could have inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, etc. Your vet may want to try her on a gastrointestinal diet, probiotic, antacid, and anti-nausea medications to see if that helps.

Toby is vomiting and his stomach is making weird noises but he seems happy and he eats and drinks water what can it be?
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Toby! Causes of vomiting are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, he ate something gross that is upsetting his stomach, foreign body that is causing a blockage, pancreatitis, toxin ingestion, reaction to a new food/treat/table food, food allergy/intolerance, or intestinal inflammation. The noises you here are the intestines moving gas through. Most dogs do not eat or vomit when owners hear the gurgly noises. I recommend with holding water for 6 hours and food for 12 hours. If there is no vomiting in the 6 hours then start allowing small sips of water frequently. If he holds the water down then restart feeding as a bland diet of boiled chicken breast or hamburger meat with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day for 3-5 days. If he continues to vomit when water or food is offered or during the fasting periods then he needs to see a Vet. I wish Toby the best!
