Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 12 years and 11 months old | 13 lbs
My cat recently had a comprehensive exam and dental cleaning. He was under anesthesia. It's only been about 24 hours since he's been home, but he's not his usual responsive self. His tail is always low and between his legs unless I pet his back. He also seems a bit nervous. He once suffered from UTI stress, so he's on a prescription food for urinary stress, which has worked very well. I'm worried it might return due to his current behavior. The vet recs a pro-biotic, but I'd like another opinion

Hello, sorry to hear about Minou. General anesthesia and it’s associated side effects can last up to 72 hours in pets especially older pets. I am not surprised that he seems still a little more quiet after his procedure and would allow him up to 72 hrs to recover from anesthesia. You can offer probiotics but they may not be necessary at this time. If he continues to be under the weather or if he is becoming more lethargic, does not want to eat or has other clinical signs such as vomiting and diarrhea then have you veterinarian examine him again. Otherwise, Minou may just need a little longer to recover from his procedure. Hope this helps and best of luck.
