My dog or cat's head feels hot. Could this mean they have a fever?

If a dog or cats head is hot can it mean they have fever ( its stupid cause I should know but I don't )

That's not a stupid question at all! Yes, it can mean they have a fever, but keep in mind that their body temperature is naturally higher than ours (101-102.5F is normal), so they tend to feel warmer. To know for sure if they have a fever, take their temperature rectally.
