Dog has red patches between legs, no itching or bites. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 4 years and 3 months old | 52 lbs

My dog has had some red patches between her legs and abdomin. There’s no bite marks within the area or anywhere on her. She also doesn’t really lick or itch it. I have no idea what it could be!

This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you de-flea Ellie regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or Cytopoint in order to stop the allergy.
