My hamster is biting its leg and it's bleeding. How can I help?

My roborovski hamster has started biting her leg and I just noticed tonight that it is bleeding. She was living with her sister, but I have separated the two bc there has recently been some aggression between them. How can I help my hamster?

Separating the hamsters was a great idea! You will probably always need to keep them separated from now on. If the wound on your hamster’s leg is severe then you will need to take her to a veterinarian as soon as possible. If it does not look too serious (like just a skin wound/abrasion) you can try applying a thin layer of triple antibiotic ointment to the wound and see if that helps. If it does not resolve within a few days you will need to take her in to be seen. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.
