Why is my new cockatiel so quiet, calm, and unbalanced after 3 days?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Cockatiel | Male

I just purchased a lutino cockatiel from a breeder 3 days ago. I believe is inbred. The breeder believes it's a 4 month old male. Large feet, large eyes, and lower mandible large. Broken tailfeathers were pulled out to re grow and did not make a sound. Does not scream. Whistles sorta when u whistle. Eats poops and drinks normal. Big poops though. Unbalanced when on finger and shakes. Not hand fed and the most calm bird ever. Sits still until is hungry or thirsty. Doesnt play. Likes necklaces. ??

It's possible, but hard to tell without knowing Pancake's breeding history. It could be that Pancake is still just settling into his new place which is why he is quieter, however if he continues to have trouble balancing, seems to act ill, or doesn't seem to settle in as normal, a trip to the vet is a good idea to rule out any health issues that may need treating.
