Hello, sorry to hear about Mimi. There are several approaches that are dependent on how severe his kidney impairment is. Often medical management may be anything from oral medications and a renal protective diet to injections of fluids under his skin and hospitalization. Rarely, these pets may need to undergo dialysis. To fully understand what her best treatment approach is, your veterinarian may require frequent blood checks, blood pressure measurements, and urinalysis. Alternatively, you may be referred to a veterinary internist for continued, long term management of Mimi.
