My mouse shakes, loses balance, and has trouble eating. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Mouse | Female | spayed

My pet mouse has recently in the last week started behaving weirdly. Every time she moves, it's as if shes having a seizure but not having one. When shes still it stops but as soon as she moves she starts shaking vigorously and her head is thrown all around and she doesn't have any balance. It makes it hard for her to eat or drink but she still tries, so she isnt lethargic. I dont know what it is, none of the other mice are doing it and seem to be healthy.

Thanks for reaching out about Rey and including photos. By the pictures, the back appears arched and would be concerns about scoliosis and pain. A veterinary visit is recommended, ASAP since not eating. Try offering food and water via a syringe, might be easier to swallow. Good luck.
