Why is my cat suddenly meowing, following, and hissing at my suitcase?

cat is following me around meowing and crossing my tracks. Has hissed at me once for no reason. Super chatty, more than normal. Eating and drinking is normal and bowel movements are normal. I did bring my suitcase out today to pack for vacation but it is a new suitcase shes never seen before. Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 12 years and 2 months old | 7 lbs

Hi, normally miawing is a sign of a cat wanting to initiate social interaction. It would not indicate that the cat is upset at the luggage. Does Susan spend some time playing on her own or with yourself on a daily basis ? This is something that might be looking at, and you could consider changing the way you feed her using more feeding puzzles for example.
