Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | 1 year and 10 months old | 6.5 lbs

My cat is peeing infront of any door of my house she get. I bought her 5 months ago. From the beginning she is doing that. I tried to train her to go to potty several times. She do that sometimes bt she likes to pee infront of the door. Though she is pooping on the potty. She is now pregnant. Should her kittens will learn that from her mother? How can i know that its a medical issue or behavior issue? I am a student of Microbiology department. Do the medical tests are same as human's?

It can be very difficult to know if inappropriate urination is due to a medical condition or not. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian to help rule out a medical problem first. While the urine test strips are the same, veterinarians will typically also perform a urine sediment exam. Veterinarians will also typically obtain a sterile urine sample directly from the bladder via cystocentesis.
