Dog ate pork bone, can swallow. Is bone stuck or just upset stomach?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female | 15 lbs

I think my dog may have ate a pork chop bone. She keeps acting like something is stuck in her throat and try’s to cough/gag it up. I gave her something else to eat and drink to see if it helped. She was able to swallow the food and drink with no problem but every few minutes she will make that sound like she’s trying to Vomit. Since she was able to swallow the food I gave her and drink some water without any problems do you think the bone could still be stuck or maybe it only Scratch It?

If Zoey was able to swallow the food and water, I don't think the pork chop bone would be stuck in her throat. It could be upsetting her stomach. Keep a close eye on her, and if she is still acting this way in the morning, have her seen by a vet. Take her into a vet immediately if she starts vomiting, there is blood in her vomit, blood in her feces, she has diarrhea, stops eating, or becomes lethargic. I hope this helps!
