Should I give my dog milk thistle for liver support on phenobarbital?

My 14 year old Dachshund was put on phenobarbital two weeks ago and next week we go to have her blood checked. Do you think I should start giving my dog milk thistle since phenobarbital has been known to damage the liver over time? Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Female | 14 years and 2 months old | 18 lbs

In theory this would help a pet that is being exposed to a potential liver damaging drug. It definitely won't hurt. It can be expensive however.
