My dog won't put weight on his leg and has a soft lump. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 40 lbs

My so was out two days ago But yesterday morning he woke up wouldn’ move. Won’t stand on his back leg. Let’s me touch squeeze and move his leg but not bend it as if he were to put weight on it. There is a almost quarter sized soft boil like lump near his ankle joins that he’ll let me touch and squeeze a bit bit I can tell it irritates him. He never snaps in pain though. Hasn’t moved from his spot since yesterday morning. When he tries his breath gets short whimpers. Baby aspirin? Compress?

He really needs to see a vet for this. This lump is over a joint and it looks swollen in the photos. It is not recommended that you give any medications as that can skew the vet's exam. He is obviously in pain if he is not moving and whining. I suggest you get him to the vet today if at all possible.
