My new cat is passive, hiding, sneezing, and not eating. Is she sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Female | unspayed | 1.5 lbs

My cat was only adopted one week ago. She really likes playing, obedient, and likes to show affection to me. She likes to eat and drink so much too! However, since she got a new friend, a Persian cat, she became passive and did not want to play like she used to. She also rarely eats and prefers to sleep. Always hiding. Sometime she can't meow and sneeze. At first we thought the cat was limping or dislocated(?) because couldn't walk normally, so my father gave a massage. But, I'm still worried.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Ara. I recommend that she sees a veterinarian. With the sneezing, an upper respiratory tract infection could explain the recent change in her behavior. If this is the case, then a medication may be prescribed. I hope this information helps!
