My cat has chronic vomiting, diarrhea, and weight loss. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 4 years old | 10 lbs

My cat has been sick for about a year or so. We try to take him to the vet often but they can't figure out what is wrong with him. He is terribly skinny and will go through spurts where he will throw up at least once a day. This stool sometimes can be green and diarrhea like. His fur doesn't look healthy like it used to either. Poe is also extremely allergic to fleas. We have another cat in the house who is extremely healthy.

Has Poe been tested for FeLV, FIV an FIP? If not, I would start there. These diseases/viruses often linger and can cause symptoms like his. Even if he was previously tested and was negative I would test him again as false negative results can happen. If he has not had full blood testing and x-rays I would do those as well.
