Is my cat avoiding me and purring less due to dominance after a fight?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 11 months and 4 days old | 15 lbs

My cat meatball is usually really lovable, friendly, and always in the cuddling mood but recently he’s been avoiding me and purring less n running away from me. I’m always trying to cheer him up but he’s rather sit in the corner a cat I had that ran away a year ago(bubby) has been coming back to the house recently for food but he scares meatball they fight and I wanted to know if this could be some sort of dominance problem? Or maybe just me being parinoid. Thank you for tryout time - Abby

Hi Abby! Meatball is a very handsome boy, and I love his name. A sudden change in behavior from the normal can indicate a medical illness. Because of that, I would make him an appointment with a vet for a health check. It could also be the return of this cat has stressed him out, but first step is having him seen by a vet. I hope this helps!
