My cat hates oral worm meds. Are there topical treatments?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 34 years and 7 months old | 20 lbs

Hello. I’ve tried on three occasions to administer oral medication to my cats for worms and they kick, bite, scratch, and spit out the medicine. Are there any alternatives to a syringe applied medication for roundworm?

Yes, there are topicals you can use: Profender and Revolution are two that come to mind straight away. ( https://www.allivet.com/p-3497-profender-for-cats.aspx ) ( https://www.allivet.com/p-1902-revolution-for-cats.aspx )
