Pet's info: Dog | Basset Hound | Female | spayed | 1 year and 6 months old | 45 lbs
Last year my dog was at a friends house for a play date and when we got home the inner tissue of her eyelids were swollen over her eyes. The vet said possibly heat exhaustion or reaction to bee sting. He gave her a Benadryl shot and she was fine. Today she was In our front yard playing in the grass for about 30 min and her left eye was swollen again when we got in. I gave her Benadryl and it seems better. Just concerned it is something more serious than allergies?

Poor pup! Given this keeps happening when she is outside, I'm wondering if it is allergies. She may do well with a longer acting medication like a steroid, or a specific allergy medication like Apoquel. I'd make her an appointment with your vet to discuss these options. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is most likely due to an allergic reaction to something in the environment that she is having contact with when she goes outside. This is usually treated with anti-histamine medications like Benadryl and steroids and most importantly by avoiding the factor inducing the allergies. I highly recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a great day!
