Is an LED flashlight safe for fish if my tank light is broken?

You can float it in some warm tap water but it will need to come out of the bag before oxygen levels drop and waste levels rise. Hot water bottles or a light over the tank may also keep temps out of dangerous ranges until you replace the heater. Buy two and keep a spare ready just in case.

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. I'm sorry to hear that Taino has seizures; these can be scary for both him and whoever sees them. The lighting is not a cause of seizures in dogs. Seizures can be caused by things within the head itself (tumor, stroke, infection or inflammation), or from other systemic causes such as liver disease, kidney disease, certain toxins, etc. When all of these possible causes have been ruled out by diagnostics (bloodwork, MRI, cerebrospinal fluid analysis), it may be determined that a dog has idiopathic epilepsy. I recommend keeping a log of Taino's seizures to note when exactly they happen, how long they last, what they look like, etc. Definitely keep your veterinarian updated whenever he has a seizure, because he may soon require treatment with anti-seizure medication if they become more frequent or severe. It should be okay to use these tanks as long as they have proper filtration, lighting...etc. Round bowls typically don't have filtration, lighting...etc and that's what will adversely affect the water quality. I hope this helps.

Fish tanks should be cleaned in stages, generally replacing 10-15% of the water at a time. There are times where a larger cleaning might be necessary, but removing the fish and changing too much of the water at once can be quite a shock and can be dangerous to the fish, so this should be saved for only extenuating circumstances. Its the amount of light that can promote algae overgrowth. Limit lighting to 6-8 hours daily. Monitor water temp as well. Do not overfeed and remove dead/dying plant matter to also limit algae. You can remove any tank furniture and scrub them clean.

The impeller, the part that moves the water, may be bad or there may be a clog or debris in the pump. If you can get to it, check it for wear or damage and replace it or clear any debris or blockages. If you can't get to it, you may need to replace the entire unit.
