My dog chewed an old ant bait. Is he okay? What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Male | neutered | 9 lbs

My dog found an ant bait from last year and was chewing on it. Can you advise me what to do? I don’t think there was anything in there just remenants stuck to the plastic

The good news is that ant baits are minimally toxic to dogs, and given how old it was and the fact that there may just be remnants, he should be ok. You don't need to do anything. I hope this helps!

    I am assuming you meant to type ant killer? Most any bait is fairly non toxic, but not all. It really depends on the product. You can always call poison control with the product name and they can give you information on it. If you dont know what it was then I would highly encourage You to have him evaluated by a veterinarian immediately. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.

While the ant bait itself is mildly toxic, the concern lies in if Tim ate the trap's plastic housing. It's possible that the plastic housing could cause an intestinal tract obstruction or damage to the GI tract . If he just chewed it and didn't eat any part of the trap itself, he should be just fine. If he did eat the plastic housing, I would monitor him for sign of obstruction and damage to the GI tract such as lethargy, anorexia, vomiting, blood in the vomit, diarrhea, and blood in the feces. If you see any of those signs, I would have Tim seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

My dog chewed a MaxAttax Hot Shot ant bait trap with indoxacarb as an ingredient. Will he be okay?
The good news is that these traps have a small amount of product and Indoxacab isn't toxic to dogs in small amounts. In most cases, exposure to these traps usually does not require any treatment. Typically if signs are seen at all, they are mild in nature, self-limiting, and usually attributed to the inert ingredients instead of the active ingredient. Don't be surprised if you see a little vomiting or diarrhea. However, there are some ant baits that ALSO contain forms of arsenic that can result in more severe GI signs. It doesn't seem like this one does, so you got very lucky with this.

My beagle just ate an entire Raid Ant Baits ant trap. What do i do?
There are a variety of ant traps on the market. Most contain a small percentage of a substance poisonous for the ants, and a large percentage of a sugary or greasy substance to attract the ants to eat the poison. For instance, the packaging on Raid Ant Baits lists n-ethyl perfluorooctanesulfonamide .5% and 99.5% inert ingredients. The .5% is so small that there is no danger to your animal if ingested. Other traps contain a chemical commonly used to kill fleas and if ingested is just as benign. The inert ingredient for the Raid trap happens to be peanut butter. So of course, your dog smells a treat and tries to chew it up to get to the peanut butter! So if an ant trap is ingested, the main concern is the potential for obstruction if the object or container becomes lodged in the stomach or intestines. Hi my dad put out any killer and I found Remi out there in it. I think she ate some. Will she be ok or do I need to rush her to the vet?

I left my dog inside while I went and mowed grass and I came back there was a combat roach bait that the dog chewed up. Is there anything I can do?
The roachbait is not toxic to dogs. The only problem dogs have with the bait is the bait box if they swallow it. It could cause an intestinal obstruction or blockage. So, if Gretchen did not eat the baitstation/box, she should be alright. Seems like roach bait smells goooood to dogs, too!

I was cleaning my backyard and I died hachi to one of the pole and when I turned around I noticed he ate some ants.Will he be okay?
Depending on where you live, the only concern with eating ants is if they are fire ants. Fire ants tend to cause significant irritation when they bite, so those bites can be problematic (although my previous dog ate them on a regular basis). my dog ate a concoction of borax and water, used to attract and kill ants. is this deadly to him? what should i do?
Borax can be toxic to dogs if enough is ingested. It would be best to contact your vet or an ER clinic ASAP if he ate some. You can also contact the Pet Poison Helpline (there is a fee for this service) at https://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/ if you know how much he ate to see if it was a toxic amount that requires monitoring or immediate care. If you don't know the amount, seeking care in person ASAP is best.

My dog picked up a dead bug that had been killed with bug spray but he spit it out. He DID NOT ingest the dead bug. Do I need to do anything?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! While it is not possible to know for sure how much he ingested, it was unlikely to be any substantial amount. For that reason, Chigger may be just fine. I would recommend that you watch him closely and if he does show symptoms such as decreased appetite, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea and/or discomfort have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Otherwise, he is likely going to be ok. Best of luck!

My dog ate a into combat roach trap what should I do ?
combat roach traps contain roach poison which is not very toxic to dogs. Usually ingesting the container is more dangerous than the roach poison. However COMBAT suggests calling them in case your dog has ingested some of the poison: "If you’re concerned that your pet may have ingested a small amount of roach bait, Combat can help. In the event that a household pet ingested roach bait, please contact the Combat Information Helpline at 1-800-426-6228 or contact your personal veterinarian." It is likely that the roach poison causes mild stomach irritation at most. Since the bait station was not ate by your dog, there is no worry about intestinal obstruction.

My oldest niece had left glue that's used for nails on the floor and my dog had grabbed it to chew on it. When, I finally was able to free it from his mouth I noticed a little bit of dried glue on his fur near his lip.

Things to monitor for include vomiting, decreased appetite, lethargy, and increased drooling. I hope this is helpful.
