My newborn kittens are crying. Are they getting enough milk from mom?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year old | 9 lbs

Day old kittens don't seem to be getting milk. They will knead the mom belly and stay attached to the nipples for a very long time but they are constantly whining and crying. I've been giving them kmr so they have something and they're doing good with it. They are very loud and like I said, will fight each other which actually seems like a good sign because they claw at each other with a lot of strength. I squeezed the mom nipples but nothing is coming. If they are attached arethey getting milk?

Bella may not be producing enough milk, and you are doing exactly the right thing by giving them KMR. One way to see if Bella is producing enough milk is to weigh the kittens daily to see if they are gaining weight. If they aren't gaining weight, keep supplementing them with the KMR. Keep up the great work!
