My cat acts weird around heat and hot surfaces. Why and is it safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 months and 21 days old | 7.94 lbs

Coco has been acting up weird since the start when it comes to heat. Any ironed clothes or table cloth or bedsheets will be torned by her. She has a habit of going extremely close to hot iron and smell it. Even touches hot gas stove which has been just turned off! Sleeps on hot oven! It's not even cold! Temperature is 32°C! What is wrong with her? I'm worried she might end up hurting herself. I keep close eye though.

Cats naturally like warm surfaces. You are correct though that this behavior can result in harm! Continue to always monitor her to make sure she’s safe. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.
