Why is my mouse scratching, biting, nervous, and drinking a lot?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Mouse | Male | neutered | 1 year and 3 months old

Hello.I'm a proud owner of cute male mouse, 1 year and 3 months old, castrated 7 months ago.Last January,I traveled to The UK for 3 weeks and my friend took care of my pet.It was alone in a separated room and started to scratch and bite oneself until bleeding.Microbiological analysis is fine, negative on parasites and fungi. It took an antibiotic cure because of secondary bacterial infection. But the problem becomes worse,it makes many wounds, acts nervous, afraid and drinks a lot of water. Please, help

Thanks for reaching out about Panda and including photos. Auto-immune diseases can cause pruritis (itchiness) and therefore the lesions. A skin biopsy is recommended for a diagnosis. The possibility of corticosteroids and antibiotics should be considered. Good luck.
