My rat has a bump near its eye. Is it a tumor? When to see a vet?

My REW rat has a large bump that's grown next to his eye, and i'm not sure if its a tumor or just a fatty cyst, and if it is a tumor I don't know if its terminal. Hes still fairly active and eating well, and doesn't seem to be in pain. Should i be worried? how do i tell exactly what it is?? Pet's info: Small Animal | Rat | Male | unneutered | 0.8 lbs
