My dog has cancer and is suffering. How can I ease her pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Pinscher | Male | neutered | 9 lbs

My dog got diagnosed with either a mass or bladder cancer. The vet said it’s either one. It’s been a few months but now it’s bad again. She’s only peeing drops of blood and she cries when she pees and she’s vomitting now and is losing her appetite. We have had her on antibiotics for about a week to ease the symptoms but no signs yet of anything better. The vet said that was the only option really. Is there anything we can do to help her with the pain? I’m scared of having to put her down :(

You can speak to the vet about prescribing pain medication for Sadie to see if that will help her be more comfortable, but if she is really bad off like you describe, letting her go peacefully would be the kindest option for her. I know you aren't ready, we are never ready to let our beloved pets go, but we do have to put their interests over ours. You don't want her to suffer, and letting her go would be a great gift for her. I'm sorry you are facing this :(
