My Shih Tzu's breath smells like old milk. Is it his crooked teeth?

I have a 9 month old shih tzu, every time he licks me or I get close to his mouth it smells like old milk .. he has some crooked teeth too I was wondering if that can be the problem too. Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | 9 months and 21 days old

Those teeth could be the problem but these dogs can also have issues with the hair staying wet around the mouth or discharge from the eyes causing the odor. You may try things like facial wipes around the eyes and lips, and brushing the teeth with pet toothpaste every day.
