Bearded dragon belly spot: Is it a burn or an infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Bearded Dragon | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 3 months old

My beardie just had a wellness exam less than a month ago and I noticed this spot on his belly today when I was giving him a bath. Could it be a burn from his heating pad? That’s the only thing that has changed since he’s been to he vet, as the vet suggested I get one.

It may be a burn, but it looks like it could be a bacterial or fungal infection. If you have a heating pad, be sure to use a thermostat or rheostat to prevent overheating and burns. Maintain proper environmental parameters and avoid excessive humidity which can foster bacterial or fungal overgrowth.
