Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 9 years and 2 months old | 12.5 lbs
She had diarrhea for about a week. Also lethargic, tires easily, panting on exertion and no appetite. Tried home care (probiotics, OTC anti diarrheal and rice diet). No improvement so took To vet. X-ray showed gi inflammation and obvious diarrhea. Prescribed metronidazole, probiotics, Hills digestive formula and famotidine. Poop is firm but no appetite and now coughing. How long should I “wait and see” before I return to vet? Could she have CHF? I had concerns about weed killer used at my condo.

I doubt the weed killer is the culprit - while you can see vomiting and diarrhea with most herbicides the dog usually needs to ingest a fairly large amount to be affected. Congestive heart failure could cause a cough, and I think that a recheck with your vet would be a good idea since things have now changed. Heart failure would not typically cause diarrhea.
