My puppy swallowed a chew whole. What signs should I watch for?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Cattle Dog | Male | neutered | 6 months and 14 days old | 28 lbs

My 6months old puppy just swallowed a 2 inch Dogswell chew. He did chew a little but I think he swallowed mostly. No gagging and he is breathing fine.

These seem like they would be pretty digestible, so I wouldn't be particularly concerned. If the chew was lodged in the esophagus I expect you would notice coughing, gagging or regurgitation. You should still monitor Marvin for those signs and for any vomiting, decreased appetite or diarrhea.
