My dog keeps burying her newborn puppy under bedding. Is it safe?

My bitch had one puppy 4 days ago and keeps trying to bury it right underneath the bedding. I'm worried it's going to suffocate. Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | 4 years and 8 months old | 5.2 lbs

That is a concern. Newborn puppies are fragile and can be harmed easily. You may try keeping Bella and the puppy on some sort of mattress pad with a railing to eliminate any areas where the puppy could be trapped. You may need to build a bed with the railing to prevent the puppy from getting under the mattress.
