My Pittie's feet get raw sores every spring. How can I help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 8 years and 5 months old | 80 lbs

When the weather starts transitioning into Spring/Summer, my Pittie chews on the top of her feet and once it’s an open sore she’ll continually lick the open sore. I try to treat it with Veterycin and triple antibiotic. It’ll start healing but she’ll open it up again. I give up bandaging.

I would take Oinky into the vet for this problem. It sounds like she could have allergies if this comes about when the seasons change, and medication may help prevent this sore from occurring. I would take her into the vet in the morning. Best of luck.
