Why did my rabbit's newborn kits die shortly after birth again?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 8.8 lbs

Hello, i have bunny who gave birth and all of its kit only live for couple minutes. This is the second time it gave birth. The first time, it seemed to not feed the baby and we found out late. This time i watched it gave birth, but the baby died so soon and i don't know why. It's tummy looks blue and there is blood coming out from its navel. Then they stopped moving and died. I am worried this might happen again. What should i do? Please help me

It sounds like she is not cut out to be a mom. These non-vialbe pups may be due to a chronic viral infection or an inherent problem with her uterus. Regardless, I suggest you either keep her from getting pregnant again by not housing her with any males or have her spayed. That is the only way to keep this from happening again.
