My Ragdoll cat recovered from URI, but still sneezes. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Male | 9 months and 28 days old | 9.47 lbs

I just have a ragdoll cat. In the first days I took him I noticed some sneezing coughing. I took him to the vet. The vet took an xray and said that he might have bordetella or chlamydia although there was no runny nose or eye discharge. I have treated him with doxycyclin for 20 days and now there is no coughin at all only a very mild sneezing ocasionally once every 2 days. I have given also paste for the fur, because he is changing coat and shedding.Breeder examined all his cats, results clear

He is very handsome! I think your post was too long as I don't see a question so I am not exactly sure what you need answered. It sounds like he may have had an upper respiratory infection that has now resolved since the coughing is gone and he is only sneezing occasionally. Continue monitoring him for any additional signs and recheck with your vet if you notice anything abnormal. Upper respiratory infections are common in young cats, especially cats that come from shelters or breeding catteries.
