Why is my cat lethargic with a painful, growing lump on her jaw?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 10 months old | 4 lbs

4yr old cat has large and growing firm lump on right edge of jaw. Appears to cause pain when touched. She has also been more distant and lethargic. What can cause this? What should be done?

It could be Jade has a dental problem such as a tooth root abscess causing this lump . You need to take her into a vet right away. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.
