My old dog was hit by a car. Why isn't she walking after the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My dog was hit by a car on Thursday. I took to her to the vet who said there was no bone broken and gave her painkillers. One of her back legs was rolled over by the car. She was walking reasonably ok after the accident but since then has taken to her basket and is hardly leaving it. Would this be normal? Should I make her walk? She's very old also. Over 15.

Poor pup! I would be concerned that she isn't walking, and she may be in a lot of pain. She is an older dog, and would be a bit more fragile. I would take her back into a vet now to get checked out. Best of luck.
