Why did my chihuahua's swollen neck turn into a face wound?

I have a 10 year old chihuahua. Her neck swole up and it moved to the side of her face( just a little swollen) enough where it closed her eye a little. The next day everything went down but she has a whole with skin hanging down. We doctored it up and wrapped it. This morning she has a wound on the side of her face. What could be causing it? Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Female | 11 lbs

This is a severe infection that forms deep under the skin. It can be the result of a bite from another animal, a traumatic wound or even an infection in her mouth.
