My cat cries when picked up but seems fine. Should I see a vet?

Hi my cat squeals,cries and even hisses all of a sudden when I pick him up but besides that he is walking around and eating and jumping up on the bed and acting normal.Dont know if I should take him to a vet or not since they are kind of expensive.

It may be that he is painful or not feeling well and that's leading to him reacting in this way. Ideally, take him to your vet for an exam. However, if he is eating/drinking/acting normally it is reasonable to just keep a close eye on him and take him in if other symptoms develop. Make sure that his litter box habits are normal. (he is urinating and defecating normally). Please do not give him any over the counter pain medications as there are none available that are safe for cats.
