What is this pink bump in my puppy's mouth between its teeth?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 3 months and 21 days old | 60 lbs

Hi there, my puppy has had a weird pink bump in between his bottom front teeth for about 1.5 months now, it seems pretty hard but moves a bit, almost like a skin tag, I’ll attach a picture, sorry it’s not very good it’s really hard to get picture of the inside of a puppy’s mouth :) Just wondering if you know what it is and if it should be removed Also it doesn’t seem to be painful to him

Hello. This is really difficult to evaluate from a distance, so I really think you should have this looked at soon. This could just be some benign gingival hyperplasia, but papillary squamous cell carcinoma has been described in puppies this young & should be treated aggressively. I hope you can have Arlo seen soon. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
