My canary's beak is dark and peeling. Is this normal after molting?

My canary's beak has started to get darker on the sides and has peeled a little on the edges. Is it a fungal infection or just him maturing. He is just over 2 years old and has recently finished his moult. Pet's info: Bird | Canary | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 3 months old

Thanks for reaching out about Fitz. Sometimes the beak becomes dark with respiratory disease, as in blue coloration. Maturation can also lead to a darkening to brown color and should be normal. Continue to monitor and if progresses, a veterinary visit is recommended. Good luck.
