Why is my dog weak, won't eat, and has a big belly after overeating?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female | spayed | 17 years and 4 months old | 13 lbs

My dog over ate last night and almost immediately she couldn't walk so I put her in her bed and when I went to check on her she was breathing normal but was completely limp and when she did wake up she was jerking her head in an odd fashion so I thought maybe she had a stroke. This morning she got up and was walking on her own a little but won't eat even her favorite treat I give her with her meds and is extremely lethargic with what feels like a big belly. Please help

Hello, thank you for your question about Jackie. I would strongly recommend having Jackie seen by a veterinarian so that they can examine her and try to get to the bottom of what is causing her symptoms. Jackie could have had a seizure or stroke like event, or she could also be experiencing another systemic abnormality. The veterinarian can perform an examination and then discuss the need for additional diagnostics such as bloodwork. Hope this helps!
